Ward Davis
I have always enjoyed working with wood. As a boy I would straighten nails and use scraps of wood to make my own toys.
I started making wooden toys for my sons when I could no longer fix the ones made of plastic. One day I was showing one of the toys I made at work and it was suggested that I make them and sell them at craft shows. I sold my toys at craft shows on Long Island for about 20 years and have received several awards. My wife and I moved from Long Island to just outside of Milford in the summer of 2003, and I joined the Artisans' Guild that October. I now have started to make pine colonial furniture in addition to wooden toys. All my toys are designed to be played with -- everything is glued and pegged. All toys are finished with at least 2 coats of polyurethane and the finishes are lead free. I guarantee all my work: if it breaks within one year I will fix it or replace it. |
