PEGGY BRAMAN
SANDY CREEK ARTISANAfter retiring recently, I had the opportunity to explore new interests and creative pursuits. In 2023, I visited Arizona with my father, an experience that became both meaningful and enriching. During this time, I joined a rock club in Quartzsite, where I discovered a strong passion for lapidary and handcrafting.
Through the club, I learned the art of rock cutting, grinding, and shaping stone, followed by polishing to create cabochons to make necklaces, bead trees and other hand-crafted items. In addition, I learned pine needle basket making which uses a polished rock for the base and is sealed with epoxy. After needles are woven with a poly thread, the basket is dipped into melted wax for sealing. |
