Kristin Stevenson
Kristin works with cold wax medium, using materials such as ink, textiles, marble dust, powdered pigments, and ashes to produce unique effects in her paintings. Cold wax medium allows the painter to build up multiple paintings within a single work, and then carefully reveal certain aspects of the under-layers to complete the final image. Experimentation and play are a central part of Kristin’s process.
She has shown her work in Rome, New York City, and Austin, and her paintings are held in numerous private collections around the world. In addition to cold wax, she has worked in ceramics, textiles, mixed media, and traditional oils.
After much wandering, Kristin has settled in an old house in Otego with her partner, two daughters, and an assortment of animals. She is inspired by the local landscape and the beauty unique to each season.
