KrisTen Neidlinger
Kristen studied fine art and art history at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, then went on to earn a BS in design with a concentration in jewelry from Buffalo State College in Buffalo, NY. Her designs feature sterling silver, niobium, and various colors and karats of gold, accented by precious and semi-precious stones and pearls. She hand-works sterling silver and gold using a variety of classic techniques, particularly forging and reticulation, with oxy-acetylene torch soldering and mechanical connections to complete the designs. All stones are hand-set in bezels or prong-settings chosen for functionality as well as aesthetics.
The artist is particularly inspired by forms found in nature, and strives to design pieces that evoke, but do not replicate, such forms. She enjoys the challenge of designing functionally necessary elements, such as stone settings and clasps, to be integral to the overall design of each piece. Interesting stones will often inspire her designs, the “personality” of each stone may set the tone of the entire piece that results. Kristen enjoys experimenting and continually strives to master new techniques to create unique designs.
