Cathy Coan
Cathy Coan moved to Oneonta more than a decade ago with her husband, Jim, who was hired as a librarian at SUNY. Her sewing business was started long before that, when their three children were young, allowing her to be a stay-at-home mom. Dressmaking alterations, repairs, and home decor came easily. Playing with natural fibers was always a fun sideline. After a couple of years in Oneonta, MountainWay Dress and Decorator was established, first on Academy Street in the house Jim and Cathy renovated and now at 212 East Street, in the home they built themselves.
Membership in the Artisan’s Guild is a wonderful community connection and a welcome extension of the sewing studio at her home.
