Carolyn Neidlinger
Although I began as an oil painter, I now work almost exclusively in transparent watercolor, combining realism with impressionism. The effect of light and shadow is an important ingredient in each of my paintings and watercolor lends itself beautifully to that because of its transparency.
I paint the things that touch me personally in some way. An artist's work is the culmination of a lifetime of experiences -- a collection of memories, sights, sounds, feelings, thoughts, beliefs, reflecting who the artist really is. I love color. I love nature. I love where I live. All of these influence my paintings.
I have a bachelor's degree in art education. A recipient of numerous regional and national awards, I have shown my work in many exhibitions and juried outdoor shows. My work is held in public and private collections, and can be seen in a series of murals in the main hallways of the Eaton Center in Norwich, NY.
