Laura Haney is the owner of Laura's Chocolates and Custom Designed Cakes. Her state inspected and licensed workshop is connected to her home. Appointments should be made to discuss wedding cake designs or to pick up cakes for birthdays, showers, graduations, etc. Special orders of chocolates may be ordered and picked up there also. There is no retail store at that location. Her chocolates are found at various locations such as the Artisans' Guild and at
the Brooks House Of Barbeque. At Christmas, Valentine's Day, and Easter, Laura's "Traveling Chocolate Shop" can be found at the larger holiday craft shows in the area, the Holiday Farmer's Market in Cooperstown and one day each at Bassett Hospital,
Bassett Oneonta Specialty Services,
Fox Hospital and Foxcare.
Laura also does Corporate gifts for large and small businesses.
Laura's delicious and creamy Gourmet Gift Chocolates are made with premium quality REAL chocolate (which contains natural cocoa butter), NOT the melt and use wafers (which have had the cocoa butter removed and replaced with palm kernel or similar oils to make them easier to use).
Laura started her business as a cake decorator. Cake decorating was a hobby until the early 1970's when she took classes from Wanda Roberts, a well-known area cake decorator. With the encouragement of Mrs. Roberts, her career was launched. At Mrs. Roberts's request, Laura took over the cake decorating classes for the Oneonta High School Adult education, and also started the Wilton Method Cake Decorating classes at Bresee's Department Store in Oneonta. Very soon, because of her deliciously wonderful recipes and beautiful decorating technique, her cakes were very much in demand, and her hobby had turned into a business. Whether it is a birthday or wedding cake, Laura's motto is "They Taste As Good As They Look"!
Chocolate making is an interesting and demanding combination of scientific principles and art, which when done correctly, results in a wonderfully creamy and delicious treat that delights all chocolate lovers. When not done correctly may result in many pounds of chocolate disaster!!
There are may formulations used to produce many different unique flavors of both milk and dark chocolate. Through much tasting, trial and error, Laura chose the types of chocolates that she wanted to use to produce her Gourmet Gift Chocolates.
Try a piece and see if it doesn't "Taste As Good As It Looks"!
