Sewing has always been a part of Kim's life. Her mother, Evelyn, taught her to sew during grade school, just as Evelyn's own mother had done when she was a young girl. Kim enjoyed creating clothing through her youth and into her adult years. As an adult she continued to make clothing and developed a passion for quilting, but it was a request from her eldest daughter, Emily that exposed her fervor for bag making. For her wedding in 2005, her daughter wanted to make handbags for all of her bridesmaids. She went to her mother for help with the project, and Kim quickly found herself enthralled with the endeavor. Broe says, " Bag making gives me the chance to finally use my fabric stashes and feed my addiction for buying new material." Broe specializes in bags that are one-of-a-kind, guaranteeing no two people would have the same bag. She also works with clients who prefer to help in the selection of fabrics used in the bag making. Kim lives in Colliersville with her husband Pat and her two youngest children, Marissa and Daniel. The couple's two grown children, Emily and Jordan are living on their own. When not shopping for fabric or creating at the sewing machine, Kim is a pre-k teacher for the Oneonta School District. She joined the Guild in 2006.
