John Mazarak is a native Ohioan whose education, training and professional experience was primarily in the field of music, beginning with violin study at age ten, continuing through college and graduate school, and concluding with nearly fifty years as a professional educator and performing musician.
His interest in photography dates from age 12 (with the traditional "Baby Brownie" camera). The encouragement of a friend and music teacher helped him learn basic darkroom skills at 14. Since then, he has been basically self-taught in photography, but gives much credit to the encouragement, support, advice and shared knowledge of teachers, colleagues and other friends who were skilled in photography.
He takes great personal satisfaction in the way photography enhances his vision of the world around him, be it beautiful or fascinating, or both. Capturing interesting moments of time on film, and sharing them with others, is for him a goal worthy of the considerable effort it takes to create photographs of quality.
