Jim is a member of Mensa and has always had a strong creative drive. He numbers woodworking and music among his many interests. He has used his woodworking skills to make children's games for the Saint Mary's Italian Festival and the Saint Mary's Fall Family Festival. Jim plays several musical instruments, including the Piano, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Mandolin, and Recorder. He has been learning to play many types of drums, but his favorite instrument is the Native American Style Flute. After years of loving the sound of the Native American Style Flute he purchased his first one. It was a small flute made out of PVC pipe, but it was enough to pique his interest for more. He decided to apply his woodworking skills and make his own wooden flute. Jim takes great pride in his work and continues to strive for perfection. Jim is not of Native American decent, but he has honor and respect for the native culture and heritage. Jim purposely keeps the design of his flutes simple and plain as a sign of this respect. He feels honored to be able to share this wonderful instrument with others and help keep it alive. When Jim started making flutes, he also began playing them. Playing his flutes is as much a release of day-to-day pressures for Jim as making them has become. Most of the music Jim plays is improvisational and from the heart. He has started recording his music and hopes to have a CD available soon. In addition to his flutes, Jim has also added various types of drums and hand percussion instruments to his product line. As he continues his flute journey and the creative exploration of making music, he will continue to add new items.
